It is definitely odd that they choose to label this 18% fee a "resort fee" rather than a "service charge" in the first place (

Hyatt Aruba charges a similar fee but it's billed as a service charge.
Obviously on points the fee is $0.00 so the only people it affects is globalists on
cash stays (non-globs on cash stays should expect to pay the fee, and everyone on points is exempt from the fee). I've only ever stayed at the grand reserve PR on points or certs so can't say whether, in practice, the fee would be waived for you. Good luck though... since they call it a "resort fee" it really
should be waived. Definitely a scammy fee, doesn't include anything at all:
Two welcome drinks - ok
15% discount on Green Fees - which means they are the same fees for all hotel guests anyhow, so this is an illusory discount
Use of tennis and pickleball courts - nobody charges for this
10% discount on select tours - same as green fees, not a real discount
Unlimited local calls - great for people who make prank calls
2 bottles of water daily - free for globs anyhow. well, one bottle is.
So for potentially $30-70 a day or more, you get two welcome drinks once at check-in,
one additional bottle of water a day, and incentive to find the local phone numbers of management so that you can call them from your room phone to complain about the scam fees until they agree to waive them
