Sparse VTL options on MLE-SIN
Hi folks.
Considering booking a stop in Singapore at end of year, in conjunction with a visit to Maldives I have planned.
Obviously nobody here is an oracle, so let's just assume things are not any worse at EOY than they are now. With the way things are going "VTL flights" might be long gone by December. But if they are not...
Does anyone know why the VTL options from MLE are so sparse? It's only the red-eye which is not a great choice between the two on SQ's part. Even with the 737 MAX taking over the route, that flight is miserable. But beyond that, I was surprised that they aren't both VTL flights.
Is this perhaps the result of caps on the total number of VTL passengers allowed each day, such that there's just no more capacity to make both flights a VTL flight? I do not understand who is flying on the earlier flight right now if a quarantine is what awaits them on arrival.
I would like to book now due to favorable fares, but due to my schedule I will need to fly the 12:55 flight from MLE so this is problematic and I'm weighing whether to just bet that by December VTL will either be gone, or SQ will have made all these flights VTL.
Again, nobody can see the future, but hoping folks who know more about SQ's decision-making, and the situation in Singapore, can give some insight into how safe I am in just booking what is currently not a VTL flight for December.
