Now this response totally doesn't help firstclass, I know but... food for thought:

One day I working as a courier delivering a package to an office in the US Air hangar at DCA. As I had an interest in working in aviation, as I passed by the US Air crew room I noticed there was a bulletin board outside with various notices, postings and news. A printout from that day attracted my eye... the title:

USAir is not ceasing operations today.

It went on to explain that even though there was lots of rumors and gossip floating around, it was untrue that the airline was shutting down today.

The date?

February 1994.

Airlines last a lot longer than people think.
