Karuizawa is definitely booming - still love the Hoshinoya there but the Indigo looks very cool also.

For anybody never been to Karuizawa - it is just a short Shinkansen ride (about 70 minutes if I remember correctly) from Tokyo station.

Great for nature in summer and a small ski resort in winter...
Yes, the Hoshino is something to be considered if going there. I like the Yamaroji rooms with the rotenburo (in room onsen bath).
