I would be afraid that AY's nice service they used to have on Japanese routes has also become enhanced and more sustainable based on customer experience. JL can make cuts, but they are from Japan where customers are less likely to be so demanding for being on a diet. Maybe unless they question them after a set of highballs.
However, if you like adventure and want to explore what we idiots unknowingly wished for, go for AY.
