Both carriers are excellent. For in-flight meals, JL by a long mile. They serve both western and Japanese meals (I usually order the bento box for my main and ramen for my second meal). Second meal is served on demand, so you can have it when you want it. There's a bidet in the lavs. I also like, have kept and use JL's amenity kits. 2-2-2 Sky Suite configuration on B787. When I flew JL out of HEL at the end of January 2020, the cabin crew were already wearing masks and disposable gloves. For in-flight entertainment, AY - has wider and better collection of programs, including tail and nose wheel cameras. AY's Champagne, believe it or not, is better than JL's. 1-2-1 configuration on A350. AY's J cabin seems roomier; JL's Sky Suite can be too confining.
