Not up to JW Standards
I spent one night here with my girlfriend for an early morning flight the next day out of CLT. I typically stay at the Ritz Carlton in Charlotte, however I love the JW Marriott brand, so I decided to try out the new JW Marriott Charlotte. The hotel is new and beautiful, with a nice lobby, elevator system, and lounge. Location is perfect. I did not check out the rooftop or restaurants during my stay. The check-in process (i had to check in a couple hours early) was OK, the staff seemed inexperienced and did not acknowledge my Ambassador status, and I did not get upgraded even though hotel occupancy was obviously low. The room itself was nicely designed, clean, and had a nice large shower. The bed was terrible, worst night of sleep I have gotten in a long time, it felt like I was sleeping on a weird multi-textured bag, the pillows were thin and did not match the bed, it is hard to explain but if you try out the bed for a night you will understand what I'm saying. One more note is that the air conditioning system was making weird clanking noises the entire stay, and it was pretty annoying. Internet speed was fast and worked well. The lobby bathrooms were gross, bits of toilet paper across the floor and not representative of a hotel that charges $300+ a night. Overall, this was a pretty mediocre stay despite the hotel having a polished appearance online, I think I'll stick to the Ritz Carlton until this property can be brought up to JW Marriott standards.
