In my (fairly limited) experience it is a mixed bag - sometimes you get a normal fare, and sometimes you end up with something unpublished and the fare rules are different than you would expect with that booking class.

I always ask for the fare basis - have been occasionally told that they can't see it..., but then I ask for change/cancellation fees at least.
