Honestly, I think it was past its prime but still quite good. It had also been opened for a couple days by the time I got it. But strong notes of tar (tar and roses are the standard tasting notes for Barolo) and raisin with a little red fruit perhaps. Not bad for 55 year old wine open for a couple days!
