shall i continue with BA Amex/Avios or switch to Virgin Atlantic?

Hi all
Would love some advice from people on my situation (as ive never really been a points person / massive CC - rewards user)

Context - currently Bronze BA status and have free BA Amex. Previously job had us flying every week (consulting) but seems going forward will be 100% WFH
Currently, have 1 companion voucher expiring Mar-23
Have ~1 months spend from hitting new companion voucher (deadline Oct-22).
Non-work-related travel will likely only be 1 holiday a year (focus on Caribbean / Mexico / SEA) using the companion vouchers (not counting cheap European easyjey/ryanair type journeys) ie likely to lose Bronze status by Aug-22. Next holiday likely Q4-22/Q1-23
Have ~85k avios points
Monthly spend of ~£1.2-1.8k (non work related) via amex.
Travel going forward will be with wife, toddler (currently 3.5) and a new born (will be born in May-22)

My options:
1) continue spending on Amex. Hit the spend criteria in Mar-22 and have 2 companion vouchers expire in Mar-23. Spend in Apr-22 to Oct-22 just builds Avios but wasted otherwise
2) pause Amex activity until Aug/Sep and hit spend criteria just before deadline so i have 2nd companion voucher expire in Sep/Oct-23. In mean time open Virgin atlantic paid master card and earn companion voucher through that.
3) continue spending on Amex. Hit the spend criteria in Mar-22 and have 2 companion vouchers expire in Mar-23. Cancel all Amex and for next 2 years spend with Virgin Atlantic (paid card is £160?) so i can then use sign up bonuses again in 2 years with Amex.
4) Upgrade to BA Amex Premium PLus (£195? / yr) without sign up bonus but at least my 2nd voucher will have 2 year expiry date. Continue with BA Amex and dont switch to Virgin Atlantic.

What would you do?

Ive also been told i can extend the deadlines for my vouchers by booking a holiday then cancelling and getting an e-voucher back with a Sep-23 deadline for use although despite reading up on this im not quite sure what the financial implications of this are. Do i still need to pay taxes / charges? how does this roll into the next voucher? whats the most efficient way of doing this? for example should i do it with cheapest flight available (perhaps some short haul EU flight) or should i do it with a destination i actually want to take?

Virgin atlantic also has a points offer atm so perhaps good time to join and buy with 60% bonus? i like that their vouchers also have 2 year expiry as with new kid im not too much in a rush to go travelling...

would love any help / advice from you guys!
