Probably an unfair comment given that we are on a forum with niche interests, that many on the outside would consider sad. People get inspired and excited by different things. Who are you to decide if its sad or not?
If you use social media I’m pretty sure you will be following a celebrity of some sort. Is that sad too? It’s the same as what people are doing here. Only on here people are following information specifically related to the hobby of flying, and BA.
