I finally ran into a situation in Dubai where the hotel could not process my gift card, but it seems the problem was with Givex, not the hotel. The mgr told me he tried multiple browsers and couldn’t sign in.
Luckily, I heeded my own advice and tried to pay my bill 3 hrs before checking out. The mgr later told me he contacted the support desk, and it took about 45 mins before the situation was resolved, but they fixed it! When I went back to the front desk, agent smoothly processed my gift card.
And for those who worry about the exchange rate, my bill was 363.39 AED. They deducted US$98.91 from my gift card. I checked the exchange rate on XE about an hour later and it was $98.95, so once again, just pennies difference, this time in my favour.
