Perhaps Brazil realises that there's a worthwhile price to taking a stand and setting an example for others to follow. My wife is Mexican and her family often visit us in the UK. On their last visit they travelled UA via the US and were charged a ludicrous visa fee in spite of being in transit only at Houston. Nowadays they pay a little extra (since my airmiles can no longer be used for non-UK departures-but that's another rant

) and travel direct on BA which they prefer anyway.
