I plan to fly into CCU later this month and was concerned to find this on a government site (especially #3 below):
  1. Passengers must complete the self-declaration form before departure. They must select ‘Air Suvidha’ on the right top corner at www.newdelhiairport.in
  2. Passengers are subject to medical screening.
  3. Passengers are subject to quarantine for 7 days.
Since my partner and I will be staying in hotels, does this mean that they will force us to split up and spend 7 days in the hotel, in different rooms? Do we have to have a 7-day reservation in the same hotel in advance? And what happens if we do not have that? Can the local government force us to spend the 7-day quarantine in one of their dirty 'government facilities'?

In any case we were planning to spend only about 4 days in CCU and then move elsewhere in India.

I understand I am perhaps getting a little paranoid here, but I certainly do not want to spend even 1 hour in one of these places, let alone seven days! Short of cancelling the trip altogether, what would the India experts on this forum suggest?
