I have a pair of Sony's that I picked up for a very good price in Tokyo - about GBP45 if I remember correctly. They deliver about 90% of the benefit of the Bose for a lot less cash - and you avoid looking like you stole them from AA! They also came with a cunning little adaptor that lets you plug them into 1,2 and 3 prong sockets...useful on airlines like SQ with funny headphone set ups.
