If I am reading this correctly, it appears that if the day before departure, only one of my family tests positive, then we would be separated into 2 different rooms, and all of us forced to quarantine for 14 days?
Does anyone know any more practical details about how this would be implemented?
Specifically:
- would all of us be required to stay in our two separate rooms and just order room service for 14 straight days?
- would we have to pay for both rooms (with 30% off)?
- if we are in an overwater villa, would we be allowed to snorkel?
- if only my 12-year old son tests positive, how do they handle the isolation requirement?
- could we test again sooner than 14 days, and travel if we are now negative and symptom-free?
- if we are symptom-free, can you challenge the positive test as a false positive and test again?
Regarding quarantine time, it is government mandated, so that is not something the resort has control of.
Yes, you would have to pay for two rooms. You can get travel insurance for up to $7000 per person for trip interruption insurance that includes quarantine.
I recommend checking with Maldives office of tourism regarding how your child's quarantine would be handled.
I've read several articles and trip reports about folks quarantining at various resorts. There is a government run in a former resort with a flat fee, that I know they have used it for folks on live aboard dive boats but I don't think they transport people as it increases the number of people exposed to a positive case.
As far as using deck, there seems different resorts approach this differently, some yes, some inside room only. I'm guessing snorkeling would be out due to the potential for interacting with others.
Would love to hear from anyone with any info about quarantine at Le Meridien (from their own experience, or talking with others about including staff ) to help prepare. At this point Le Meridian has been under contact tracing for about 5 days, and the other Marriott properties far longer
My husband and I are still planning on going as we were able to find the level of insurance e feel comfortable with.
