I spent 3 days this weekend at the Thompson Chicago. We had used a suite award and were placed in a Jr Suite on the 8th floor (one suite per floor it seems)
We had friends staying in another room using points and guest of honor - they were just 2 doors down so nice and close. We didn't worry about trying to get them a suite.
Since they were on points the valet was 100% free (normally $75 a night!)
Breakfast is excellent, and just mentioning Globalist I never saw a bill any of the 3 days. So that was excellent.
Nico Osteria is where breakfast is, we at lunch there once and dinner multiple times - food purchase is eligible for Hyatt base points! I found the menu to be have a number of options, I really liked the oysters on a half shell. Some nights I was alone and sitting at the counter talked a bit with the sous chef and he even brought me a sample of what he was working on. The other 3 wanted to try Chicago Pizza which is really a PIE!.... not for me.
The Location is nice, we went to the Field Museum and to a concert at the CSO. Location worked for both if not a bit far to walk - though the weather would have to be warmer.
The Suite was OK, on the small size just a bit and the couch side of the room was really close to the HVAC unit - so it was quite loud if it's running when over there.
Since we had free breakfast the lack of coffee makers in the room didn't bother any of us (I don't drink coffee so I didn't even notice it except I had read it on here)
