Or perhaps you can go with a reel-less rod? :-) Tenkara Fly Fishing originated in Japan. My son the fly fishing guide makes fun of these guys, but it seems like it has a cult following. And if you're wondering, the rods collapse on themselves like an old transistor radio antenna. My son finds it all rather quite silly.
