Another question, If I go the route of getting both an antigen test and a PCR test within 48 hours of departure from my first airport (CLE), can the antigen test be an emed.com test (one taken at home over the internet)?
We were corralled for about 10-15 minutes, but we were among the first passengers off of the plane. We could see a bit of a wait at passport control leading into the baggage claim area after we were waiting, so in practice one's wait might not be as long as ours was. There's a very sticky sticker that they put on your passport with the test number. You will get an e-mail 2-3 days later with the official test results. This is in theory required at all times to be produced on demand for any authorities who ask, but in practice we didn't encounter a situation where anyone asked.
eMed and other self-administered tests, even if video proctored, are
not accepted for entry into French Polynesia. eMed tests are accepted for travel back to the US. There were some passengers who were sent downstairs to test at LAX when we checked in. We coincidentally decided to get both a rapid PCR test and antigen test there too (in case PCR didn't return in time during our layover).
Entry requirements changed multiple times since we book, so keep updated with what's required.
