On top of which, CX should NOT have imposed a cancellation penalty because it was their error that you purchased a higher fare which gave no miles than the lower "H" class which did - at least on your BA miles.

I went through an experience a few months ago with CX in Singapore. That was when they decided to take fare class bookings into their own hands. They insisted that the "M" class fares they sold between Singapore and Bangkok no longer earns miles and that only higher fared ticket sold in "H" class earns miles. Anyway, my business partner, bought a higher class ticket in "H" just to earn miles. 2 days after he bought the ticket, CX in Singapore rescinded what they said and said that now the lower priced "M" class fare can also earn miles.

I called CX in Singapore and literally had some 'words' with the ticketing supervisor (which I'm sure my name is dirt)... I said that it is ridiculous that they first offered the "M" fare, then to say that it would not earn miles (even though Asiamiles insisted that the Singapore office had no jurisdiction to do what they please).. and now they decide to sell a mileage earning M fare? I argued that what they did in the first place was illegal, and that MPC should know what they are doing is wrong.

Anyway, 4 days after my business partner came back from his trip (he had to travel the next day)... CX in Singapore called him up and asked him to go to the CX office to pick up a refund cheque of about S$70 which was the difference between the H class fare and the M class fare.

CX in Singapore no longer sells the higher H class fare for SIN-BKK return. At least not till after 31st Dec 2004.
