Just want to add that Kimpton restaurants are generally managed by the properties (hence the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants branding).

One speculation about this policy could be that because Kimpton has historically put more effort into their F&B than say, a typical Crowne Plaza, they may feel that they do not need to encourage hotel guests to eat there since the establishments are frequently visited by locals as well, and don’t want the expense of having to award points on F&B spend.

Another speculative reason could be because before the integration with IHG, while Kimpton did consider F&B spend (even when not staying as a hotel guest) toward IC qualification, the Kimpton Karma program didn’t actually award points- I recall free nights were earned through more of a punch card system that tracked nights/stays. So there was no loyalty program cost incurred by the properties for F&B spend.
