The concept of a rack rate is not that it is an error, it is like full fare for an airline. If they can sell the place out at that level, sure they'll do it and not drop rates or introduce lower rates (never will be cheap here, don't get me wrong).
Either way, so for summer peak period, this definitely seems points will be the way to go and I'd expect this to become a very sought after redemption option. YMMv.
