Great impromptu stay!

What a coincidence - I was just planning on writing my trip report from last night's stay!

I wasn't originally planning on staying at the Waikiki Beach Marriott during my Waikiki hotel gauntlet 2022 edition (Hyatt Regency, Royal Hawaiian, Sheraton Waikiki, and Moana Surfrider), but I had to add an extra night in order to get out before the winter storms. I'm very glad I did, though, as I enjoyed my time here!

I checked in around 6:30 PM. Before hand, I had noticed that I had been upgraded to an ocean view but with 2 doubles in the Paoakalani tower (the taller one further from the beach). I asked at check in if there were any upgrades with one bed, and they put me in an Ocean View King in the Kealohilani tower (shorter and closer to the beach) on the 21st out of 25 floors. I was on the Aston side but didn't have any issues with music with the doors being closed (you can, of course, still hear loud engines and motorcycles). The view was very nice, IMO.

The room itself was very nice and quite clean. Entry way was a bit small, but the room itself was spacious. Nice little couch. Bed was comfortable - good cover thickness for Hawaii and the mattress was nice, despite seeming a bit thin at first glance. Pillows were great. The shower was wonderful with great temperature and pressure (and they kept the bath faucet for feet washing - great touch). TV had Internet TV OS. Balcony was very clean with two chairs, a table, and a lounge chair. AC was loud, but worked quite well.

Service was very nice - friendly front desk (they talk for a long period of time with each guest, so lines could move a bit slowly). Friendly restaurant staff at breakfast. They let me checkout at 2 PM (nice to not have to fight on this).

Breakfast is the aforementioned $14 credit (covers the continental). I got pancakes instead, which came with bacon, and cost $20 ($6 upcharge). Food was good (not the best I've had), but good. Service was friendly - they deliberately had me wait a few seconds for the staff to clean off a table right next to the beachfront window (nice touch) without me even asking.

I also had dinner at Arancino di Mare - delicious pizza carbonara.

Pool was a bit cool as it was in the shade and a bit small - wouldn't come here for the pool.

Overall, the great bed, great shower, great view, and friendly service really made the Marriott a great stay.
