It's called "married segments."
LH has chosen to not make BOS-FRA-NBO available for award redemption. There's no real way around it unless you can use a frequent flyer program that doesn't charge extra for multi-city itineraries (booking BOS-FRA and FRA-NBO on the same ticket but booking it as separate segments).
