Exactly so. When a recent UA flight was cancelled, which was supposed to carry two of my employers and me in coach, I was extremely nice to a Red Carpet Club agent, and ended up (for a small charge) with three tickets in First Class on a Delta nonstop to the same destination.

I have never before bought a Delta ticket in a United Red Carpet Club, let alone three at once. Right after I got my three tickets, a horde of passengers from the cancelled flight descended on the agent, looking for help. My employers and I had another drink and watched the carnage before we left for our DL seats.
