"Partner and I have held reservations for some time for a winter getaway, but have recently heard about changes to the laws there. Does anyone have first hand recent experience? Is it worth redepositing and looking elsewhere, or will we be alright?

Though I can't find the link now, he sent me something on a boycott by some gay or human rights group. That's more his thing than mine. I'm more concerned about redepositing miles and starting over. It's supposed to be gorgeous there and I'd really like to see it. I would, however, like to return home safely, preferably with hands intact. "

A group of us went to both DAR and Zanzibar last year. Had a great time. Food was amazing, ocean unbelieveable and people charming except when a begger followed us around town for an afternoon. In Zanzibar we stayed at the Serena Inn, an amazing hotel with good pool and great munchies. Had no trouble being out in Zanzibar but that was before the "Ban". I'd simply be more careful, however think you can still probably be ok in a hotel like the Serena which is first rate, might just ask for two beds just to be safe. Hope this helps!
