In the past GVA/ZRH have always been successful for me as a ciggie run destination. Great way to spend a few Avios on a RFS and a few hours or the day if preferred. GVA for example works particularly well as a back to back ciggie run... you don't even need to clear passport/security and you can walk back into departures within 2-3 minutes of deplaning ready to catch the same flight back to London. My advice is to always take at least the following flight back then in the event the items aren't loaded for at seat delivery you've got time to go to the duty free shop - GVA prices are in line with BA HighLife shop prices and not marked up extortionately in the way Heathrow choose to do... the difference in price justifies the RFS fee.
Before we left the EU I used to go to Luxembourg quite regularly for my supplies as B&H Gold are cheaper in normal shops let alone Duty Free than they are at LHR.
Flying from EDI via LHR and the same return I had the great advantage of saying goodbye to my "Booty Laden Case" in LUX and not seeing it again till EDI.
Clearing UK Border on the way back at LHR with a clear conscience.

and no case to attract the attention of Customs.
This is a great advantage even today ex EU if you want to chance your arm a little bit.
