I have another trip in less than 2 weeks so I am going to wait until I am back in March to actually do this, and it will also serve as my determining factor to go ahead with a redress number or not. If I get it again, then it's obvious that I need one, if I don't then I may just let it go and chalk it up to a coincidence. I had never had SSSS before these three times, though. Interested to hear anyone's insight/experience.
Were 3 of those last four flights part of an international US-bound journey on the tickets? If so, I wouldn’t get concerned about it. If this happened 3 out of 4 times on domestic-only itineraries, then that’s something I would find concerning enough to want to find out what happened and see it stop.
Have you tried to book a refundable US domestic flight ticket and tried to check in online to see what happens? Do so with two different US carriers, and if it works to check in online, then you’re in the clear with regard to SSSS drivers.
