Given the current state of affairs between Russia, the US and Europe it's questionable if the approval can come any time soon. And existing overflights (to all airlines) could be put in jeopardy if tihngs go South in that regard. The question is - how long will AA operate JFK-DEL if they have to continue adding 4 hours to the trip, stopping in places like BGR on the return to supplementing crew, paying for more fuel, etc.?
