Thanks for the offer. I have an EF account and will do just that. This just seems highly suspicious with the exact timing of all U space disappearing at exactly the same time I made the purchase. What makes me think it's a system issue, further supporting your AS IT comment, is that there was no available upgrade space for Premium. It seems to me the U space for the day was truly phantom availability.
I never book that far in advance, so others may have more experience on this. I noticed as of today 12/25 is at the very edge of the schedule. I recall others discussing the lack of fare class availability at the edge of the schedule which is, 330 days from now. 12/25 currently is showing Y/J. If I look a week prior to 12/18 there is U space availability
and lower fare class availability. I would keep an eye on it in a week and see if any lower fare classes become available and perhaps additionally that golden U space.
