I was using a fairly broad interpretation of amenities for brevity, so including things like gym, pool / spa (though latter may be closed?), and simply having a whole bunch of rooms to choose from (which in my experience opens up more opportunities for early check-in, etc.). I just personally tend to default to business hotels because they serve me well (no/low-surprise place to sleep and get in the basics) but I certainly understand the perspective of the people who like the more unique experiences offered by smaller properties.
