Impossible to get on delayed flight past scheduled departure time
Today (and tomorrow) many flights to NYC got cancelled due to the winter weather, specifically both afternoon Delta + AA flights AUS-JFK, so many pax got stranded. The sad thing is that JetBlue flight 820 was still at the gate with plenty of empty seats according to the gate agent, and several pax tried getting on it. But the gate agents weren't able to sell tickets since it was already past the scheduled departure time (this was at 3:21pm -- the flight took off at 3:58pm instead of scheduled 3:15pm). The gate agent just said the only way for them was to call the JetBlue number to open up the inventory, and that they'd be on hold for an hour to do that. It's sad JetBlue is leaving revenue on the table like that. As far as I know other airlines can still sell tickets if the flight is delayed. (I just opened this thread as an FYI / rant / discussion)
