There are definitely bus gates at JFK - I've had one in the past. Not on BA mind.
I thought I remembered a bus gate at JFK for AA but actually this was at LGA when they consolidated ex-US and AA operations into the main terminal, pre-renovation. Not sure if it even still exists or is still used? Discussed here;
