If we're brining weather in to it...my all time record was when someone saw a flake of snow on the ground at LHR at the end of Jan '03 and all hell broke loose. My flight from FCO should have landed at 20:25. I didn't get out of LHR until gone 3am. We landed at around midnight and sat on the taxiway for >2hrs - a VS plane had just slid off the runway so they closed LHR (luckily we were one of the last planes down). LHR was basically one big carpark for planes. It was chaos. After 2hrs the captain said they had to turn the engines off or we'd not have enough fuel to get us to a stand if we ever did get allocated one (no planes leaving = no free stands, of course). Got on to a (T2 not even T1) stand after 2:30. Busses took another 30mins (but I'm amazed they found any at that time of night!). Thank God I didn't have checked bags luggage!

But then I know many people here have more recent weather-related horror stories too...

Compensation didn't even cross my mind - not BA's fault...and the crew were amazing throughout.

Phil
