I've been to Japan 4 times and stayed at the Andaz three times. I had been to Japan 3 times before I first found his you tube channel. I do NOT watch vblogs - much prefer structured videos - which his videos mostly are. The 2nd guy in the video is a guest has his own You Tube channel about Anime with 2.58M subscribers. That's an even more crazy audience.
I found Chris's videos only a few years ago because they showcase Japan in a very good light and are well done. He's very much a champion for visiting the country. His discord has discussions for visiting the country and plenty of helpful people. In the video he points out you can get a room for as low as $350 - that's much more approachable for a lot of folks. The insane title and antics draw a lot of attention clearly. I got to see the Sky Suite in crazy detail, and I've been able to stay in some pretty crazy suites over my years.
It reminds me a bit of the first time I stayed at the Shinjuku Park Hyatt (on my first trip) - there was a pair of guys we meet who were clearly relatively young - not the typical type I'd expect at a $500 a night hotel. They worked for Apple. The Park Hyatt was blessed by exposure from Lost In Translation - that's why we went there!
So I'm sure if I hadn't already been to the Andaz a number of times this video would have gotten me to look at it. I know some of the management at the Andaz - I'll see if next time if they'll talk about it.
