Second this. If going to Charing Cross, a cross-platform change at either Hammersmith or Barons Court (no steps) to the larger and more spacious District line trains, and you'll wind up at Embankment, which is only a flight of stairs up to street level.

Though that also depends on how much luggage you have, and how comfortable you are lugging it up a set of stairs. Then Leicester Square on the Piccadilly line (no lifts, but escalators) or an uber might be better.
