Yes, it does tend to be cheaper. For example, TATL LH F redemptions with UA are ~130k ow, while they're 100k on AC. TATL redemptions in J are generally ~50k vs 66k at the lowest levels. Those are off the top of my head, but I am sure there are others. UA has unfortunately joined DL in abandoning award charts.
