I think
HNLbasedFlyer's point is that if you consider objectively the options as they currently are, and despite several serious annoyances (resort fee, even on points, skimpy breakfast, evasion of suite upgrade benefit) SW still offers a competitive value proposition when you compare it to other options in Waikiki.
The other property I'm now reconsidering as I look to burn my Marriott balance before March is RC Residences, where there's no resort fee and you get a large, well appointed room with a kitchen and washer/dryer, a bit removed from the craziness of Kalakaua. But no breakfast and no upgrades.
