I've never got anywhere close to Gold so if I was 5TP short I'd absolutely go for it just for the experience.

Trouble is I suspect it is a case of what you don't know you don't miss and once you've experienced the hallowed turf of the First Wing you will be hooked and will be attempting to retain Gold in the future or going for GGL and higher.

In much the same way I can only turn left on long haul but also now have a hankering to try the First cabin which I had booked but the flight was sadly cancelled due to Covid before I could experience it.
