We stayed at the SW regularly since 2004 and always enjoyed the unbelievable, attentive staff at and the views from the Leahi Lounge, the reserved pool chairs with outstanding service from the infinity pool team, valet parking, the upgrades and so on - like most of you still know it.

Now we have flights and everything else booked for the end of March and are still discussing whether to really stay at the SW under the given circumstances. Actually we are clueless. The views would still be there (we have a reservation for an Oceanfront room), but other than that nearly everything will be gone - including most of the wonderful staff. An outragingly high resort fee will also be added to the room rate on a daily basis. We always accepted that fee, because we were fully aware of the total "package" at the SW with the different valuable amenities.

Maybe it would be better to stay at a totally different property this time like the Laylow, knowing that we have to lower our expectations a lot, but skipping the disappointment we're going to face at the SW this year.

Yes, the tourism industry is heavily impacted by Covid and we are really sorry for the staff members who were laid off, but in order to keep longtime loyal guests staying, the SW shouldn't take each and every amenity away.
