Yes, it's one reservation with both of us, then two separate companion reservations. I often wait to book the companions because of re-faring, it is just as easy to re-fare the two tickets as one, the caveat being you then need two seats at the lower you want to change to. I did this on a ticket just last week, it was Anytime (I've been buying Anytime fares on routes where the difference is only $30 or so above WGA), so got a refund to my credit card.
