You need to let the Swiss hire company know you will take it into France so it has Euro plates (vague memory from the last time I picked a car up at Geneva), but there are no real issues. As OPs have said it is easier picking up in Switzerland as the toll sticker/ right tyres, snow chains etc. are done.
