Seeing your participation here over the years I am sure what you say is true That said, I do know that some companies are deadly serious when they say their rates are not to be used for personal travel. If I understand correctly, that’s because even though adding personal travel will increase their site-wide discount, it is often technically against the terms of their chain-wide discount. If your firm only travels to 8 cities and you’ve spent several weeks in Bora Bora and the Maldives it may not be something you would want to be pulled up on.

But also, companies like that - I avoid them.
