It would be nice if they would be proactive in a case like this, but that would likely come at a very high expense especially when dealing with an airline that is no longer a milage plan partner.
Did you read the EK news release?
"Suspension of flights to several US destinations
Update
Last updated: January 19, 2022, 12:23 Dubai (GMT+4)Due to operational concerns associated with the planned deployment of 5G mobile network services in the US at certain airports,
Emirates will be suspending flights to the following US destinations on 20 January 2022:
Chicago (ORD), Dallas, Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), Newark (EWR), Orlando (MCO), and
Seattle (SEA)."
That is an announcement of cancellation ("suspension"). A particular definition can be picked apart as you like, however the airline stated they are not flying certain routes. At this moment, based on original booking, I have no way home. The time to take action, rebooking from SEA to LAX is before all the seats are booked up. Alaska reps specifically claimed they were unable to view this news release, that's the crux of the matter.
The good news is that the wording is tweaked a bit from previous release- "
on 20 January 2022", which implies to me they are taking this day by day. Which is a crappy way to travel.
