Why did you inquire internally whether corporate rate can be used for personal travel? Usually corporate rates are lower but there has to be sufficient volume so it's to the corporation's benefit that the rate is used for enough nights. Hotel may be the entity that would want to limit access to corporate rate to eligible travelers, which is often corporate ID.

I have always used our corporate for personal travel when it's the lowest available. We have never been informed internally that corporate rate cannot be used for personal travel.
