No, nothing like that. Apparently Boeing got complaints about how strong/cold the vents were on the 787, so when they designed the system on the MAX, instead of just saying "so don't open them full blast, you idiots", or making something similar to the 737NG, they put in a completely useless system.
Started googling it, and after coming across some alarming stories about a Summer 2021 FAA directive regarding 7M8 venting and cargo fire hazards (
https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/08/05/...ion-issue.html - not really clear what came of that in the end), found similar complaints about the 739 dating back to 2018 - although those seem to be linked with it being a bigger aircraft. Apparently Boeing tried to address that by making the nozzles smaller - increase the pressure of the air coming out. Maybe it’s a legacy “small” nozzle issue?
That aside, this aircraft / config really is one of the worst around.
