Let's disagree on this.

When a suburban or rural hotel -- sitting in a big asphalt parking lot with abundant parking -- introduces a parking fee, it's hard not to see it as a junk fee. It's a hotel that was built for business travelers with rental cars, families on car trips, and other guests arriving by car. If guests for two rooms arrive in the same car or if a guest arrives by Uber, then there's simply another empty space in the lot that night. The parking lot is part of the hotel's cost structure in any case.
