Rationale for the 7,500 points limit per stay ?

Hi,

I was reading the FAQ section of the hyatt website, and I found this:

http://www.goldpassport.com/faq_earn...=5&gpnav=3#q12

A maximum of 7,500 points can be earned per room, for up to 3 rooms for which
you personally pay for, on any given Hawthorn Suites stay, no matter how many
consecutive days you stay at the Hawthorn property.
I hadn't realized this rule yet, as I am a fairly new Hyatt member and had only short stays so far.

What's the rationale of this limitation? On a week-long stay, it means you have no choice but to check-out and immediately check-in in another room to split the stay in order to gain points? And that I should refrain from having incidental on shorter stays so that I don't hit the $1,500 spending limit?

How do the more experienced travelers deal with this limitation?
