Seems like it may not be automatic according to the text of the Emirates announcement? (please let us know if your booking was automatically cancelled and points/money refunded).
If you can't get through the call center today/tomorrow (and can't get a new flight from the other U.S. locations), I would just pay the cheapest cash rate to get to DXB on another airline still flying out. It sucks, but you don't want to ruin your vacation.
Thing is my itinerary is ORD-DXB-SEZ. So no issues with the DXB-SEZ leg, just the ORD-DXB leg. If we can get re-routed through JFK that would be great.
