yes, exactly. I recall having a little over 200k points and my final stay of 2021 was a 5k redemption which dropped my balance to the 190's. I had no other activity following this stay and remember looking at my app and being confused when I saw a balance back in the 200's. It was then that I looked at my activity and saw the 1k AA listed.
Just finished a stay in NYC. Can confirm that my points balance did not have the AA 1,000 points added by comparing to my points balance before and after the stay. So the promo was applied as intended to award you 1,000 miles to your AA account only.
